The most difficult day of the intense heat that has affected the country for the last few days will be today as the high temperature will continue in the country and the mercury will even reach 43 degrees.
The heat and humidity combined with the African landscape create a suffocating cocktail that is an extremely dangerous environment, especially for vulnerable groups. Areas where mercury levels will rise are eastern Central Greece, eastern Peloponnese and the interior of Crete, where temperatures will be “red”.
At the same time, there are many schools across the country that will not function while the state apparatus is on standby.
The temperature will show a small decrease only in the north-west.
It is expected that it will be sparsely cloudy in the west, center and north, it will become denser temporarily, and there will be local rain or showers in the northern heights. In the rest of the regions, the weather will be generally clear, and the meteorological conditions will allow the transport of African dust.
The wind will blow from the west direction 3-5, and locally up to 6 Beaufort in the south.
The temperature will vary greatly. Specifically, it will be 36-37 degrees in the northern mainland, 38-39 degrees locally in central Macedonia, 39-41 degrees in Thessaly, Western Sterea and Western Peloponnese, and 41-43 degrees in Eastern Sterea and the east of the Peloponnese. It is 35-37 degrees in the Ionian islands, Sporades and Cyclades, 38-40 degrees in the northern and eastern Aegean islands, 39-42 degrees in Crete and the Dodecanese. Its minimum values will vary between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius. In Attica, maximum temperatures will reach 41-42 degrees inland and possibly 43 degrees, while coastal areas will be 3-5 degrees lower. It is noted that the minimum temperature will change at a very high level and will change around 26-29 degrees Celsius.

The temperature will drop significantly in the west, center and north. In more detail, the maximum value of the temperature in the northern continents will be 34-36 degrees, in the rest of the continents 36-38 degrees, and in the inner parts of Sterea and Peloponnese will be 39 degrees Celsius. It will reach 34-36 degrees in the island country, and 37-39 and maybe 40 degrees in the Eastern Aegean, the Twelve Islands and Crete.
Marousakis: “Friday will be intense”
Renowned meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis shared on social media a diagram of the truth about the heat wave, noting that “something strong is going to happen”. Mr. Marousakis provides an analysis of what will happen with the fluctuations that the weather and temperature will present in the next few days through charts.
“On the specific chart for Athens, we have also set limits with gray lines for hot, very hot or milder heat. So we see that from Friday the 14th, the mercury begins to descend and descend at a high speed. This means that something intense will happen”, the meteorologist emphasizes, “a really colder air mass will collide with a warmer one and create strong winds that will push the very warm air mass away. “Then we’ll go into milder temperatures even on Saturday, so it looks like it’s going to last into the middle of the new week.”
At the same time, Klearchos Marousakis draws attention to the dangers that may arise from this climate change, talking about “high fire risk” on the one hand, but also “dangerous storms”.

Cloudy conditions in the south in the morning will be generally clear, in the afternoon it will be slightly cloudy in some places in the northeast.
