North Carolina State University is calling you
Monday 10 JUNE 19-10
AT THE IONI ARTS AND CULTURE CENTER
In an exhibition/presentation of academic research and conceptual approaches aimed at presenting a digital experience of the Mycenaean funerary monuments at Mazarakata. We will share with you sketches of the researched site, research findings from existing archives, conversations with local historians and ideas on how to communicate the (researched) history and its cultural significance to the wider public.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM AND THE PROJECT
Design, Culture, and Representation is an off-campus academic program that introduces North Carolina State University students to how History, Culture, and Community are represented in the social and natural environment. Engaging with the Mycenaean burial site at Mazarakata, they scan and document the site to create a digital model for the preservation and enhancement of the monument, exploring how history, culture, ritual, and archival influence the site and representation. Students are actively involved in the research, presentation of findings, content development and visual and aesthetic digital representation of this important archaeological site.
