HAMLET by William Shakespeare – On Tour in Greece

The tragedy of the Danish prince Hamlet takes place on the stage – a theater machine designed by Mikaela Liakata, where all the technological means of the performance (lighting sources, projection machines, effects, sound sources) are combined.

The masterpiece of Shakespeare and world theater turns out to be dark and excruciatingly timely, Patricia Apergi’s kinetic treatment highlighting the well-hidden secrets of the human condition, Royal Wire’s theatrical costumes, canceling time in a unique atmosphere that complements the heartwarming music of Stavros Gasparatos. Sharp lighting by Nikos Sotiropoulos and inventor
Video art by Thomas Palyvos.

An excellent troupe of actors, led by Anastasius Rouillot as Hamlet, interprets the characters of Shakespeare’s heroes with incurable time repetition. A show that wants to be written in the memory of the audience.

“No use of the world is good.” Hamlet thinks. The refusal to move reflects the image of a world in which, however much it changes, the ruins remain unchanged. Fragmentation. Wear and tear, decay, decay, fatal repetition. Hamlet thinks. Not so much living, but how you can live a life worth living. Political and ontological demand. Hamlet thinks about time and the world. And he sees the whole picture: No use of the world is good. Time is fragmented. Hamlet describes a man. follows contrasts: Depth and surface, Presence and appearance, resistance and submission, plainness and hypocrisy, speech and silence, concealment and revelation, representation and non-speech, Limits of language and world and vice versa. Hamlet longs for a new innocent world to be built on the ruins of the old.

In the final stage of preparation, Hamlet will have its Panhellenic premiere on Saturday, June 29 at the Ancient Theater of Cleon in Nemea.
