Actress Despina Stylianopoulou has died

Actress Despina Stylianopoulou, who starred in hundreds of films from the golden age of Greek cinema, died at the age of 91.

Despina Stylianopoulou has been experiencing health problems recently with the sad news of her death announced by her niece Anna Stylianopoulou.

«It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved sister, aunt and grandmother, Despina Stylianopoulou, has passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Have a safe trip my love, we will miss you so much“, he wrote on Instagram.

Spiros Bibilas said goodbye to the beloved actress with a touching post on the social network, even announcing that her funeral will be held today. Wednesday, June 12 at Athens First Cemetery.

Despina Stylianopoulou studied voice at the Greek Conservatory and theater at the Dimitris Rodiris School of Drama, where she graduated in 1959.

He first appeared in the cinema in 1960 in the movie “”.stranger in the night” and has since established himself in comedy roles. His most common role was that of a statesman who made linguistic mistakes. She also played the popular girl who was not the lead. 1967 was considered by many art circles as “the year of Stilianopoulos”, as he himself appeared in 12 different films during the year.

He was a troupe leader at the Avlaia theater in Piraeus for many years.

Little is known about his personal life. She is said to have had a whirlwind romance with producer and director Kostas Karagiannis, who, as she later learns, started a family in France.

Despina Stylianopoulou was married to actor and singer Petros Milas, but had no children.

“In my personal life, I didn’t have a mind, I didn’t make good choices. My wedding lasted one day. I don’t think I’m over it,” he said.
